Senior Investigator/Expert Consultant
Pam Lawson retired as a Detective from the San Diego Police Department after 27 years of service,
the last 14 of which were as an investigator for the Department’s Child Abuse Unit. During her
tenure there Detective Lawson investigated over 800 cases of child abuse, including, sexual
molestations, physical abuse, and infant deaths. She is a court recognized expert on the subjects
of child sexual abuse and physical abuse against children.
A professional trainer, Pam has presented a variety of training courses to both law enforcement
and public audiences since 1989. She is certified by California’s P.O.S.T. (Police Officers’
Standards and Training) as a “Master Instructor.” She is currently a primary trainer for the Child
Abuse Investigations and Advanced Child Physical Abuse Investigations courses with P.O.S.T.’s
Institute of Criminal Investigators (ICI). In addition, she is the designer, administrator and trainer
for ICI’s Advanced Child Sexual Molestation Investigations course. Pam has also presented before
the San Diego International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment and the Association
for Child Maltreatment (AFECTO) Conference in Columbia (2010).
During her law enforcement career, Pam received several Commanding Officer citations and two
Exceptional Performance citations. In 1990, Detective Lawson was the recipient of the “Officer
of the Year” award presented by the Women’s Police Officer’s Association and the International
Women’s Police Officer’s Association.
In 2016, Pam joined the staff of CASTCorp International, a California-based private investigations
and expert consulting firm , where she serves as a Senior Investigator and Crimes Against Children
