2022 San Diego County High School Mock Trial Competition

The 2022 San Diego County High School Mock Trial Competition promises to be the largest to date and we need your help!

The 16th Annual San Diego County High School Mock Trial Competition is scheduled for February 26, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 11:00 a.m. and March 1,3, and 7 from 5:00 p.m. to approximately 7:30 p.m.  We are planning for an in-person competition to be held at the San Diego Superior Court's Central Division located in downtown San Diego.

Please note: Due to the surging COVID-19 illness and exposure rates, the dates for the competition have been changed in the hope that the additional time will afford an opportunity to have the competition remain as an in-person/in-courthouse event.  The new dates are reflected above.  Because of the changing dates of the competition, we regretfully have deleted all previous sign-ups and ask that if you previously signed-up, to please sign-up again. 

In addition, we are implementing COVID safety protocols to include limiting the number of participants in each courtroom, which will assist with social distancing as well as requiring all participants to wear masks.

Attorney scorers are provided guidelines and scoring criteria for evaluating performance and numerically scoring the individual students and the teams.  The criteria include the quality of the students’ presentations, their grasp of the law and court procedures, and their understanding of the case itself. 

The time commitment is approximately two-and-a-half hours per trial in addition to the time necessary to review the competition materials prior to the competition.  Attorneys may volunteer to score as many trials as they like.
