“Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be and he will become as he can and should be.”
At the close of 2014, I thought that I was writing my final president’s message to the SDPA Membership. However, now in 2016, I find myself thanking the Membership yet again for placing me at the helm of this amazing association. I am honored and humbled to find myself surrounded by truly inspirational leaders – fifteen (15) board members strong – of the paralegal community.
As we begin 2016, I want to take a moment to acknowledge/thank the board members who will not be returning; to Kate Oliver, Clarissa Hernandez, and Jalise Qualls, thank you for your leadership and contributions to paralegal community. I hope that you continue to become as you can and should be…that you will continue to be active within the community.
To the 2016 board – Nancy Rose, Brittany Curran, Lauren Doucette, Christine Stansall, Kristine Custodio, Sara Lutz, Kelli Moro, Alicia Ornelas, Treva Cutts, Travis Burleigh, Robert Nguyen, Corissa O’neill, Natalie Freitas, Nikki Retelle, it is my desire to move, touch, and inspire each of you; to unlock the potential within each of you; to enable you to become independent, fulfilled and enriched individuals whom aspire to educate, promote, and strengthen the paralegal community; to become as you can and should be; to become an award winning team.
SDPA, to date, has provided a variety of quality and informative CLE topics, to include:
- Best Practices & Use of Trial Technology, as presented by Jeff Bennion, Esq.;
- Life, Death, and Property Taxes, co-presented by Jeff Olson and Robert Gomez
- Computer Forensics, presented by Jim Sevel of SD Forensics
Additionally, Bridging the Gap (BTG) – one of SDPA’s signature events – is currently being planned and will have something of interest for all of its attendees with breakout sessions to include:
- Family Law;
- Recruiter/Alternative Career Panel
Registration is open on our website at www.sdparalegals.org.
It is the SDPA’s intent to continue the trend of providing quality CLE presentations by dynamic and knowledgeable speakers. To the members reading this, especially those of you located in East County or South Bay, if you have a topic of interest and/or speaker amenable to present, I welcome you to forward this information to either myself or any of the 2016 Board of Directors.
I look forward to developing the 2016 board as it can and should be, a board that moves, touches, and inspires its membership to become actively involved in the legal community. A board that encourages the membership to pay it forward by striving to strengthen, promote, and educate others…
