  TREVA CUTTS President
Treva began working in the legal field as a receptionist in December 1985. From August 1986, she worked as a paralegal for Martin P. Elwood. Since November 2002, Treva has worked for Laura H. Miller, family law specialist. She has enjoyed being a 2006 SDPA Board member, President in 2008, 2009 and hopes to be able to continue helping SDPA grow through 2010.
   
 
  SARA MINAS VP of Membership
Sara holds a B.A. in Political Science from San Diego State University, and her Paralegal Certificate from the University of San Diego. Currently she is employed with Sullivan Hill, et al. working as a litigation paralegal doing insurance litigation and CD work. Sara joined SDPA at the end of 2008 and became involved with the board when she was elected Secretary in January 2009. In June of 2009 she took over the sustaining membership ad hoc chair. Throughout the year she has learned and grown immensely from the other board members. As the VP of Membership, Sara would like to see (1) the membership grow among the paralegal community, (2) membership benefits increase i.e. discounts to local restaurants, theme parks, salons and shopping for members, and (3) enhanced support from current members at SDPA and legal community events.

    CARLA HANEY VP of Programs & Education
Carla S. Haney, CP has worked in the legal field for over a decade, including over seven years as a paralegal. She has a BA in Criminal Justice Administration from Sonoma State, a paralegal certificate from UCSD Extension, and an MBA from San Diego State. In addition, Carla obtained the Certified Paralegal designation from NALA in 2004. Carla has worked as a Litigation Paralegal and trainer, and is currently the Legal & Compliance Manager for a large, San Diego-based financial services company. Carla
served on SDPA’s Board of Directors in 2009, during which time she chaired the Employment Committee.

    NICKY WASHINGTON Secretary

Nicky M. Washington is a Paralegal for the Law Offices of Leon J. Saad & Associates, a general civil litigation practice providing both plaintiff and defense representation in the areas of professional liability specifically legal malpractice, malicious prosecution, realtor liability, director and officer liability, insurance coverage and bad faith, real property, business and corporate law, employment and tort litigation.
Nicky handles all aspects of the firm’s administration and operation in addition to her paralegal responsibilities.
She holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration with a Minor in Spanish from San Diego State University. She began her legal career in 1997 after earning a paralegal certificate from the Paralegal Training Centers and is currently pursing a Master of Forensic Sciences at National University.
Nicky is also a Notary Public and has been a SDPA member since 2008.

    AFSOON ALAGHEHBAND Treasurer
My name is Afsoon Alaghehband, and I currently work as a paralegal for Butterfield Schechter LLP specializing in ERISA, corporate law and estate planning. I am also a co-owner of VistaTech, LLC, which is a company that provides networking and hi-tech services to clients in San Diego. In my role with Vista Tech, LLC I serve as the company's Vice President of Administration and Finance. I earned a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Information Technology from CSUSM. I completed my paralegal studies at USD in 2009. I am also a Notary Public. I have been working in the legal field for more than seven years. In 2009, I volunteered as the webmaster for SDPA and provided my skills and services for the redesign of the website. I will serve SDPA to the best of my abilities as the Treasurer with my educational and work background and experience, specifically in finance and budgeting.
